Bio

Who am I?
Joy is an artist from the Midwest, though she spent 8 years of her childhood growing up in New York State. She discovered much of her artistry through working and performing in children's theatre in Madison, Wisconsin, and continues to carry a passion for youth theatre. Joy loves storytelling and hopes to focus her career on the creation of new stories, from stage to film to writing.

Joy is currently pursuing a BFA in Acting with a minor in American Sign Language Studies at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is extremely passionate about activism and accessibility in theater, both things she hopes to speak loudly and proudly about in her future. She is queer, physically disabled, and neurodivergent, and hopes to create more spaces for her communities in the theater industry, as well as other marginalized groups.
Outside of her career, Joy loves music— especially folk music— and is a basic guitar player. In her free time, she plays Dungeons & Dragons, pets cats, and goes to every thrift store in her area.
Where did it begin?
Joy grew up doing ballet from 3 years old and from there, she found a love of performing. Quickly, she fell in love with the stage. Both her father and mother are avid writers and readers who passed those loves onto her, which cultivated a need to tell stories. Joy adores storytelling and is overjoyed to have the privilege of creating a career out of this love.

Joy is particularly inspired by writers such as Jen Silverman, Maggie Stiefvater, Margaret Owen, and many other poets, contemporary authors, and playwrights. She hopes to write, act in, and direct stories that her young self would cherish and see herself in.
